A Note from your Virginia District NMI President

I have been in love with Nazarene Missions for literally all of my life. I participated in District Convention when I was just a little girl and the love of missions has resonated throughout my whole life. This handbook is what you would have received at the now cancelled “physical” District NMI Convention. We have tried to equip you with what you need to know for this upcoming year. It will be a different year but we hope that you can be creative about keeping NMI alive! You have a new checklist that will help you make sure what needs to be done as well as a ‘beyond’ section to shoot for. I hope you’ll find this book to be very helpful. Let us (the Council) know how we can help you. We are also working on our website to make this handbook and other information more accessible to you as well.

The Sunday School is the foundation ministry for Sunday School and Discipleship Ministries International. Every church should provide this ministry even if it can provide no others. However, Sunday School and Discipleship Ministries International also includes additional Sunday, weekday, annual, and special ministries, and training.

NMI OBJECTIVES

To encourage people to pray for all efforts of world evangelization.
To inform people of the world’s needs and what the church is doing to meet those needs.
To challenge children and youth to learn about and participate in the mission of the church.
To raise funds for missions outreach.

NMI helps produce missionaries.

NMI assists in sending missionaries to the field.

NMI supports missionaries on the field.

NMI educates individuals and congregations as to the missionaries’ work on the field.

NMI welcomes missionaries when they return for home assignment.

NMI helps equip missionaries to return to the field.

NMI prays for missionaries at home and abroad.

NMI helps provide for retirement needs.
