Our desire is to connect with our communities, build relationships, and share the hope and love of Christ.
Yes. As part of a new monthly reporting effort each local church will report a number of items through our online portal. For example, we will report the number of Community Activities/Ministries in the previous month? (Although in July, when reporting for June, you can report back to April 1)
Broadly speaking any kind of project that connects the church to the community. Jesus asks us to “Go.” We believe that people will come to church when the church “Goes” to them. God’s people, are called to be on the go, moving, and going into our communities.
Generously, count broadly, and err on the side of counting too much.
Here are just a few examples: Celebrate Recovery, English as Second Language, Food Pantry, Compassion Centers, Clothes Distribution, Intentionally Meeting Business and Government Leaders, Church Services in Parks, Church Services in Nursing Homes, AA Groups Meeting in the Church, Al Anon Groups meeting in the Church, NA Meetings in the Church, Red Cross Blood Drives, and other creative ways. The list is only limited by God’s imagination through us.
Our desire is to celebrate and measure specific ways in which we “GATHER” as God’s people, including tracking how many guests attend our various gatherings, how many baptisms are celebrated, how many persons on average attend Discipleship Gatherings (including Sunday School and other small group ministries), along with reporting the number of New Nazarenes to join the Church.
The ultimately goal is tied to our mission, “Making Christlike Disciples in Virginia and Beyond.” As a District, we would like to see 1,000 new guests, 100 baptisms, between now and September 1, with higher goals for the rest of the year.
Yes. Beginning now this is our new day. We are starting new accountability habits. Excelling with accountability is in our DNA. We ask every church to become a regular and faithful monthly in reporting through our website.
Simply this:
Report the number of Community Activities/Ministries in the previous month.
Report the number of guests in your ministry events over the previous month.
Report the number of baptisms you performed over the past month.
Report the average number of persons attending Discipleship Gatherings (Small group or Sunday School)
Report the number of new members added to the local church.
Report the number of conversions.
Report the average monthly worship attendance.
Report the Accountability Care List (formerly the Responsibility List).
Optional: Share a story beyond the numbers. Stories are extremely powerful.
We believe that a leading indicator of the effectiveness of a local church is the number of first, new and/or returning guests to our gatherings. Therefore, let’s find ways to provide specific and generous invitations to people to attend to our gatherings.
No, we want your church to be creative and find what works for your church as a whole and as individuals.
You can invite your family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, or someone you just met for the first time.
A new guest is someone who attends your church for the first time, or has recently started attending regularly, or for the first time provides their contact information to the church. Count generously and broadly.
No, you can count a new guest if they attend a worship service, small group, picnic, etc.
All pastors will report the number of new Community Activities/Ministries, new guests, baptisms, Discipleship attendance, Worship attendance, new Nazarene members, conversions, number of people on the Accountability Care List, and have opportunity if you would like to share a God story.
